First ‘Conductors Column’

It gives me great pleasure to be able to use this report of the ‘BRASS SPECTACULAR 2’ concert which was held on Saturday 19th September 2009 as my first subject for my column on this excellent Band website which is the responsibility of our own in house IT chief Caroline Pearson who has done a splendid job of the new concept and design.

I thought the concert was absolutely fabulous both Melton Band and Foresters 2000 where outstanding in both the performance and standard of professionalism in the playing and presentation throughout the whole evening and as I said on the night I was very proud to have been on the stage and involved with such an incredibly organised event which thanks must be sent to Mr & Mrs Nev Jackson, the Management Committee of the Melton Band, the Ancient Order of Foresters, all the people behind the scenes who’s help with the raffle and many other jobs to enable the success of the evening but also an exceptional thank you must go to the fine musicians from both bands.
I would personally like to thank Pete Collins for his hard work and excellent joint professional Directorship of the evening which I personally will remember for many years to come. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish him well in his new role and congratulate him on his successful tenure with the Foresters 2000 band.

The Melton Band are now looking forward to changing their repertoire with some new music and also the challenge of the Leamington and Leicester Festival Contests by finishing the year hopefully with a good result and the inevitable Christmas programme performances.
