The Training Band
The Melton Band have an active training band that practice one hour before the senior band each week under the direction of Caroline Pearson.

Many of the junior members are taught by The Melton Band with others coming from local schools to enjoy playing music as part of a band and to improve their group playing and technique.

Anybody interested in joining the Training Band will be made very welcome.

We are very keen to promote the training band and recruit new members.

Our aims

To provide an enjoyable opportunity for introducing the newcomer of any age to music. Secondly to extend the musical ability and knowledge of developing musicians and thirdly, to encourage people to play and perform music together in ensembles and as a band. Overall we aim that everyone should enjoy themselves in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Opportunities

During practices you will be taught to play and read music. If you are a complete beginner we can offer one to one or small group tuition. You will have a chance to try out a range of brass instruments from the band to see which you prefer. You will be able to take your instrument home to practice. In the Spring and Autumn you will have the chance to compete against other musicians in the County at competitions. The training band will be featured during main public concerts throughout the year. Once you become an accomplished player, there will be a position for you in the main band.

Finally

Musicians of ALL ages are very welcome! We have room for young and old alike. You may have learned an instrument many years ago and would like the opportunity to learn to play again. Some may never have had the opportunity, now is your chance! Come along and join us on a Thursday evening 6.30pm - 7.30pm at our practice room.
